Stonehurst Facing Bricks

Facing bricks are decorative bricks designed to enhance the appearance of homes and outdoor spaces. They are commonly used for house exteriors, home extensions, garden walls, boundary walls and feature walls, helping to add character, kerb appeal and long-lasting style. Made from a blend of cement, aggregates, water and pigments, concrete facing bricks are a popular alternative to traditional clay bricks for homes, offering a durable, low-maintenance solution that maintains its attractive appearance for years to come.

Concrete facing bricks offer low embodied carbon as a result of the manufacturing process. They also provide consistent colour and dimensions, helping create a more uniform finish improving efficiencies through the supply chain.

Yes. Stonehurst facing bricks are designed for both external applications, with low water absorption and strong resistance to weathering to help buildings look good for longer.

Stonehurst facing bricks are available in red tones (Redstone, Redstone Multi, Merlotstone and Firestone), buff tones (Harveststone, Amberstone and Sandstone), and contemporary greys (Greystone). The range includes both solid colours and multi‑colour blends, offering flexibility to suit a wide variety of design requirements. Bricks are available in smooth frogged and textured perforated finishes, making them suitable for both traditional character projects and modern, contemporary designs.

Our frogged facing bricks feature a large rectangular indentation on one face, known as the frog, which is filled with mortar during laying to aid bonding. Our perforated facing bricks have two teardrop‑shaped holes running through the brick, designed to ensure correct installation and consistent performance. Both the indentations and perforations reduce the overall weight of the brick without compromising strength. In our range, frogged bricks have a smooth finish, while perforated bricks have a textured finish.

Stonehurst facing bricks are manufactured and tested to BS EN 771-3:2011+A1:2015, the British Standard for aggregate concrete masonry units. They are produced in the traditional UK brick size of 215 x 100 x 65mm, making them easy to specify and install alongside standard brickwork. All bricks are CE and UKCA marked

For Stonehurst facing bricks, movement joints should typically be positioned at 7.5 to 9 metre intervals on two-storey and taller buildings, with closer spacing recommended for single-storey construction. The length-to-height ratio of any brickwork panel should also not exceed 3:1 to help control the risks of cracking.

It all based on style, design and preference. Smooth frogged bricks create a cleaner, more contemporary appearance with a more uniform finish. Textured perforated bricks offer greater character and depth, making them ideal for more traditional designs or projects where a natural, varied appearance is preferred.

Facing bricks are low maintenance and retain their appearance over time. Occasional cleaning may be required to remove dirt or environmental build-up, but their low water absorption helps reduce staining and weathering.
