Daniel Adams, a Landscaper from Ipswich who set up Reform Groundworks And Landscapes, was announced as UK Landscaper of the Year, sponsored by Brett Landscaping at the 2022 On The Tools Awards. The awards ceremony was sponsored by Toolstation, and held at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, on Friday 18th November.
After a troubled childhood and spending time in prison, Daniel decided to turn his life around. Going into working in landscaping meant he had the opportunity to develop a career that suited his interests and abilities. Daniel then took the plunge and started his own, now thriving, business in Suffolk.
Daniel said: ‘What we’ve achieved in three years is a massive achievement. We’ve come a long way and our customer satisfaction speaks for itself. There are so many people involved in my success, my team, suppliers, customers and more. Thanks to On The Tools for the awards and the recognition for all the hard work. Onwards and upwards, thank you again to everyone involved!”
CEO of On The Tools, Lee Wilcox said, “The journey that Daniel has been on is truly inspiring, and he truly reshaped his life. It’s amazing what opportunity working in the trade has given Dan, and he’s now absolutely thriving. Huge congratulations to him on winning Landscaper of the Year.”
“Celebrating and championing UK tradespeople is what On The Tools stands for. The industry and the people behind it have had a challenging couple of years following the pandemic and the turbulence that has continued to grip the country. The mental health impact for tradespeople and resilience demonstrated was evident in this year’s award winners’ stories. The awards are so important as they allow us to give recognition to the incredible people and businesses who contribute towards the success of UK construction.”
The event was presented by Irish comedian Keith Farnan, with 400 guests in attendance at a gala dinner, including builders, tradespeople and leading construction brands. Danielle Thorpe, from sponsor Brett Landscaping, presented the award to Daniel on the evening.
18 awards were given out during the night, ranging from Apprentice of the Year to a Special Recognition, and Plasterer of the year award for Naima Ben-Moussa, a plasterer dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse by repairing damage to homes through her charity Rebuilding Lives.
Designed to recognise both individuals and leading brands the awards were judged by a panel of industry judges and an online public vote.
