Designed to give landscapes the look and feel of natural granite, the surface layer of Brett Landscaping’s premium block paving – Lugano – features beautiful flecks resembling the shine of silver.
This striking granite aesthetic means the block paving is suitable for high-end public realm spaces and urban improvements, and it has recently been selected for use across an entire new town development within the Duchy of Cornwall.
During the production process, Lugano is shot blasted to reveal the colours and texture of the natural aggregates to replicate traditional granite, a process that provides a textured surface with excellent non-slip properties. This makes it the perfect choice for weather-exposed areas experiencing heavy footfall.
Lugano is available in a light ‘Misty Grey’ or a deeper ‘Graphite Grey’, allowing designers and urban planners to get creative and create contrast – from alternating the colours of the main paving, to contrasting the border or kerbs.
Brett Landscaping describe Lugano as our all-round solution. When an estate commissioned by the Prince of Wales Duchy of Cornwall needed block paving that was in-keeping with the local Cornish landscape and a strict design guide, Lugano was an inspired choice.
Nansledan, the Duchy of Cornwall’s award-winning 218-hectare mixed-use urban extension to Newquay is on its way to becoming a sustainable community of up to 4,000 new homes. Brett supplied 18,000 square metres of premium Lugano Misty Grey and Graphite Grey which complements the local Cornish granite.
At such high volumes of required paving, Lugano was a really strong alternative to using actual Cornish granite, which is more expensive to extract from its source.
The Lugano range was robust and resilient enough for the high traffic areas around the central shops and amenities of Nansledan, with the slip resistant surface ideal in all weathers, while its aesthetic complemented the modern take on traditional cottage design found throughout the residential streets on the estate.

About the Product
Lugano Block paving, available since 2014, is supplied in single-size packs for 80mm products.
Alternatively, there is the Lugano TRIO option, which is available in mixed-size packs for 60mm products. This helps with design flexibility and is particularly useful where a bespoke finish is required.
Lugano Flow is available in the same finishes, textures, and colours as the above options is the only completely permeable Lugano solution.
Lugano Flow is perfect when used in areas that experience surface water, or flooding. The unique nib design allows water to drain between the blocks, later releasing it back into the environment in a controlled, sustainable way.
