Community & Environment
For 100 years, Brett has embraced its responsibility to the local community and our countryside.
Our independent status and spirit of entrepreneurism means that we can take the long-term view - something we feel particularly strongly about.
This, together with our enduring relationship with the land that we work and then restore, means we place a strong emphasis on delivering on our commitment to the environment, community and
to the people with whom we work.
Brett has won 39 awards in 36 years for the quality of its restoration and aftercare of quarries. In 1988, we received a European year of the Environment Award for the Westbere Lakes at Sturry near Canterbury (pictured above).
In 1994, our Bysingwood Lakes lakeland and nature conservation scheme won the Sand and Gravel Association's (SAGA) prestigious Cooper-Heyman Cup, awarded annually for the industry's best example of restoration. More recently, the cup was won again by Brett (for the second consecutive year) for the transformation of a former Surrey quarry, Church Lammas at Staines.
We're particularly proud of the construction work we have done in the South East of England - we've built five major health centres and the very first Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Kent.
Conserving our countryside
For Brett, success and environmental concern go hand in hand. The sensitive way in which we design, manage and work our land consistently receives positive recognition and acclaim.
